DON'T LET THE HUNTING BILL DIE!
The Bill to ban hunting with dogs has already been passed by the House Of Commons - by an overwhelming majority, and with a 'free' vote. It is the first time any such Bill has got this far, thanks to the efforts of IFAW supporters and others.
In the next couple of weeks, the Lords will get the chance to vote on the same three options put before MPs, self-regulation, licensing (the so-called 'Middle Way') or an outright ban. A ban is the ONLY option that will stop the cruelty.
However, even if the Lords vote in favour of a ban, there still may not be time for the Bill to complete all its remaining stages before a General Election.
IFAW would like to enlist your valuable support on this matter
PLEASE write, as a matter of extreme urgency, to Rt.Hon Tony Blair MP, 10 Downing Street, London, SW1A 2AA, and urge him to ensure that the will of the House of Commons is enforced. Ask him to make a manifesto commitment to introduce a ban as quickly as possible if this Bill runs out of time before a General Election. Also remind him that the so-called 'Middle Way' option in the Bill would mean no change to hunting and would merely allow the cruelty to continue. You cannot licence cruelty.
PLEASE SEND YOUR LETTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Your help really will make a difference and is vital in getting this historic Bill to ban hunting wild animals with dogs passed and onto the statute books. It will save wild animals from cruelty, and prove that we are a civilised society.
It would be helpful if you could let IFAW see a copy of any letters you send or replies you may receive. You can send them to Samantha Arditti, IFAW, 87-90 Albert Embankment, London, SE1 7UD, or by fax on 020 7587 6719
Thank you for your support, which is so desperately needed at this time especially
