PROTECT OUR CHILDREN - YOUR HELP IS URGENTLY NEEDED

THE DAILY MIRROR would like your support in their efforts  to get tougher sentencing for net users who download child pornography - there has been huge support for this Campaign but your help is still urgently required.

When little Sarah Payne's body was found, dozens of experts were quoted saying that there was no cure for those who debase children in this way. The internet is their candy shop and hundreds of thousands of child haters hide behind the pathetic international laws.  We continue to hear the excuses that net law is difficult, and that policing the web can't possibly work!  But The Mirror has asked us all to rage for Sarah.

We want our government to take ACTION, independently of other nations, so that we can prosecute these bastards in our own courts. For once, we should stop hiding behind the arguments of other nations, and lead the way.

Every day and night, these child haters satisfy their evil obsession by logging on to websites which show disgusting, stomach-wrenching images, - children being tortured, maimed and abused in horrendous ways.

It is difficult to catch those who run these sites, particularly if they are hosted in countries with scant regard for or knowledge of the internet. Once the site is set up there, images can be added and downloaded from any country in the world. Many argue that it's the websites we should be trying to close down, but that is proving impossible, so let's go for the easiest targets - the people who view the filth, and when we find them and charge them, make sure that their sentencing is for years, not weeks. That is the Mirror campaign.

Just recently, a convicted child hater wrote in a newspaper about his history. He had downloaded 7000 images of child pornography, for which he was given a four month sentence! He served just two months before being let out for good behaviour!!

Just run that one by us again.... Seven THOUSAND images?? Even if you were  fan of a particular footie team, how many images are you likely to hold on your database? A few dozen, a hundred perhaps. A collection of 7000 images belongs to a wholly obsessed mind.

Two months in jail for 7000 images works out at about 1000 images a week.

Is that all our children mean to our courts, 1000 children abused for a man to serve a week in jail? Do not insult us any longer.

In America, when 7 year old Megan Kanka was killed by a known paedophile living across the road from her house, President Clinton responded to public demand and put Megans' law into the statute books. This made information about all convicted paedophiles public. We can have our own version here in the UK. The Mirror will take the fight where it needs to be taken. We really can do something for Sarah Payne and all the other children... This is just the beginning.. Before we make our move to the Home Office we need as much support from YOU as we can possibly get. Remember... we MUST stay raging for Sarah, and we MUST stay angry, because when we stop, the fight stops with us.
